On the occasion of the International Weeks Against Racism, IG Metall Berlin invites you to a screening of the documentary film “Das deutsche Volk” on Tuesday, March 17, starting at 6:00 PM. The film follows the survivors and relatives of the victims over an extended period. The event will be held in both German and English.
On the night of February 19, 2020, a racist shot and killed nine young people in Hanau, Hesse: Gökhan Gültekin, Sedat Gürbüz, Said Nesar Hashemi, Mercedes Kierpacz, Hamza Kurtović, Vili Viorel Păun, Fatih Saraçoğlu, Ferhat Unvar and Kaloyan Velkov. That was six years ago, but the attack and its aftermath continue to have an impact, especially on the victims' families.
As part of the International Weeks against Racism, the IG Metall Berlin invites you to a screening of the documentary “Das deutsche Volk” (The German People) by director Marcin Wierzchowski on Tuesday, March 17, starting at 6 p.m. The film follows the bereaved and survivors of the 2020 attack over several years as they navigate grief, loss, and the ongoing fight for recognition, justice, and belonging. It sheds light on the long-term consequences of racist violence for those affected and for our society as a whole.
