07/18/2024 | Sandra Rullich joined the IG Metall Berlin digital team in June. Where does she come from? What does she have to contribute? Why did she choose Berlin? What is she looking forward to in the IG Metall Berlin digital team? More in the interview.
Sandra, you've been working in the IG Metall Berlin digital team since June. Why did you choose this project?
I previously worked in project management in executive committee administration in Frankfurt. There I helped develop, implement and introduce applications - just like in the private sector. My idea and vision was to work directly with the people in the companies on site. In other words, where I can provide concrete and hands-on support. It is an exciting challenge for me to help develop innovative, new concepts for organizing.
Can you tell us something about yourself?
I did my apprenticeship at IG Metall in 2011. After that, I worked as a team assistant in the executive committee administration and dealt intensively with product management. Later, I mainly did product management, for example in the members department. As a project assistant, I then increasingly took on my own projects and was responsible for IG Metall's advertising campaigns. I developed and had applications developed for membership recruitment, which provided overarching support. Most recently, I was project manager and product owner for digitalization projects and responsible for the nationwide introduction of a new CMS at IG Metall. So I know the ins and outs of the digital world.
From Frankfurt to Berlin. What attracts you to Berlin?
I was born and grew up in the Sauerland. I moved to Frankfurt for my apprenticeship. I never really grew accustomed to Frankfurt and always wanted to go somewhere else. I immediately jumped at the chance to go to Berlin. Frankfurt was always too small for me. Berlin reminds me of Brooklyn with its diversity and international flair. New York and Barcelona are my favorite cities. Berlin is now one of them too.
What are you focusing on in the digital team?
I'm currently getting an overview and familiarizing myself with the topic of setting up a works council, for example.
Have you already had any initial experience?
I've just attended the BR-1 seminar in English at MBition. I accompany my colleagues to the companies to gain an insight. We had a speech campaign at ASML. Together with my colleague Sören Lieske, I am the responsible union rep at CARIAD, where I attended a works meeting. It's a great experience to get to know the members and the people on the committees and to see how motivated they are and what good ideas they have to offer. Was baut Dich auf?
Where and how do you recharge your batteries?
I enjoy endurance and weight training and mountain biking. I dance salsa and love sporting events from basketball to ice hockey - apart from soccer. I do yoga and meditate to relax after stressful days.
